WHO WE ARE
The mission of Lifepoint Church is to bring people to a life-saving decision to follow Jesus as Lord and Savior, and equip them to intimately know God, walk with Him daily, and teach others to do the same.
Our mission is focused on the unchurched people of Livingston County and the surrounding area and is deeply rooted in the Great Commission.
We believe our mission is a continuation of the command Jesus gave His disciples to, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” (Mat 28:19 NIV)
Our passion is evangelism, and we work diligently to build God’s kingdom here on earth by taking the gospel to the unchurched and bringing the unchurched to church!
WEATHER CANCELLATION: All church activities for the evening of Wednesday, Feb. 27th have been canceled.
In March of 2000, a hometown boy named Brent followed his wife to church because he was tired of being home alone on Sunday mornings. That day Brent heard the gospel presented with a simplicity and realness he had never heard before. At that time he was an alcoholic with a family of 4 and a volatile marriage being torn apart by heated arguments, financial struggles and threats of divorce. That day Brent collided with God. He committed his life to Christ and told God he'd do whatever, wherever and whenever God would ask him.
In December of 2012, after 10 years of fulltime ministry at two other churches, Brent found himself desperately seeking God for the next step in His plan for his life. Brent could see the brokenness in the people of Chillicothe that he had known his whole life, and he longed for them to be transformed by God just as he had. God began to stir in his heart, and as he waited and prayed over the next several months God began building a desire in Brent’s heart to start a church in Chillicothe.
At that same time, God was stirring in the hearts of several other people in Chillicothe. In May of 2013, a providential conversation between Brent and one of those other people took place, and the serious journey of prayer that happens between a God-given desire and seeing that desire come to realization began. During that time of prayer and fasting, God gathered and merged a small group of believers from several different denominational backgrounds.
In August 2013 that group of five couples and their families stepped out in faith, layed hands on Brent and prayed for the faith to continue on in obedience to whatever God would ask of them. They decided on a target start date of October 6th and planned to meet togther each Sunday prior to the start date to pray and worship together. The first Sunday the families met together in early August, 30 other people showed up without even being invited. The second Sunday 60 people showed up, and by the third Sunday in late August 120 people were seated in folding chairs hearing the gospel being delivered with a simplicity and realness many had never heard before. God started transforming lives. On the projected start date of October 6th, nearly 200 people witnessed 9 baptisms at Lifepoint Church.
God continues the adventure of building His kingdom here in Chillicothe by doing "immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work in us." (Eph 3:20)
pure before God
We work with hearts made pure by God’s forgiveness, knowing that only by His great mercy do we have the opportunity to join Him in building His kingdom. We consider this partnership an extraordinary privilege and pray for pure motives as Christ uses us to build His church through the discipleship, evangelism, fellowship, ministry, prayer and worship of Lifepoint Church.
real with each other
Real life starts right here on planet earth at the moment of salvation. And although, as believers in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior we stand before God completely forgiven, we still struggle with the very real problems of a sinful world. We make mistakes. We are not perfect. So we embrace the incredible humility that comes from the position of a forgiven sinner and believe in the power of a testimony of victory that can only be unleashed by a real surrender to Jesus as Lord.
with simple faith
We owe a debt we cannot pay. Christ paid it for us. Our faith in this simple fact moves us to action as a body of Christ followers to pursue people who don't know Christ and help them live the real life He came to give them. It is that simple, and we desire to never complicate the message of the gospel by complicating how we do church.
